I met this stunning malamute-mix one day when I was wandering around downtown Portland with my camera, and couldn't resist stopping her owners for a few quick pictures--fortunately, they were very patient, and pleased to see their beautiful dog was getting the appreciation she deserves. I have often seen Australian Sheperds with different colored eyes, but until I met Cinders, I hadn't realized other breeds can share this trait as well.
As with my drawing of my cat Sydney, this image is a continuation of my experiments with a charcoal-style technique, which I think allows more density and drama than can be obtained with the relatively transparent strokes used in a watercolor-style painting. The actual dimensions of this image are about 10" x 12". A custom painting like this would cost about $125.
