Simon, clearly, is an unusually handsome cat--partly Maine Coon, which accounts for those very photogenic tufts on the tips of his ears.

In the close-up image, you can see the use of coloured pencil over watercolour strokes, which allows me to begin soft and then overlay sharper strokes to bring out details.
